The effects of climate change are well documented and it is clear only a collective, determined plan of attack to reduce individual and commercial impact on the environment will achieve a global goal of minimising greenhouse gas emissions.

Charters’ Green Charter formalises this plan and sets out the steps it has already taken and those it will implement in the future to help the organisation become carbon neutral.

Activities include a partnership with MoreTrees and a pledge to plant a tree every time contracts are exchanged on a new property sale or when new tenants move into a home. It also extends to committing to green energy suppliers for all operations, paperless offices and recycling.

Switching Charters’ fleet of company cars to electric power and incentivising employees with a car allowance to go electric will also make huge energy savings. So too will the travel savings that will be made whenever prospective purchasers and tenants opt for an online viewing of a new home using Charters’ tried and trusted virtual viewing platform.

‘Combatting the impact of climate change is something we all need to address,’ commented Rob Mott, Chairman of Charters. ‘We want Charters to play its part in preserving the integrity of the planet for the security of future generations. With that in mind, The Green Charter demonstrates our commitment to minimising our carbon footprint and reaching our long-term goal of becoming carbon zero across our operations.

‘The pledges we have made are extensive, but we know that it is only by taking a stand along with other individuals and organisations who share our vision that we can effect the environmental changes we so badly need.’
